How to Spot Fraud Early and Protect Your Finances

  • Watch for urgency or pressure. Fraudsters use urgency or threats to rush you. Take your time and verify before acting.
  • Verify the source. Don’t click links or share info from unexpected calls, emails, or texts. Contact the company directly using official contact details.
  • Check for suspicious details. Look out for spelling mistakes, unusual email addresses, or requests for sensitive info like your Social Security number or PIN.
  • Never share sensitive info. Legitimate companies will never ask for your full password, PIN, or one-time codes via phone, email, or text.
  • Review your accounts regularly. Monitor your account activity and report any unauthorized transactions immediately.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, pause and ask for help—it’s better to be safe.
